‘Celebrating Religious Education’ will:
 
-    celebrate Religious Education and its contribution to the education and personal development of all pupils
-    recognise the links between RE and local, regional and national faith communities
-    raise public awareness of RE’s distinctive contribution to society and social cohesion
-    promote imaginative examples of debating the ‘big questions’ of meaning, purpose and moral responsibility
-    promote creativity and excellence in RE
-    disseminate case studies and models of good practice


 ‘Celebrating Religious Education’, the National Celebration of Religious Education, will seek to encourage:

 partnerships between
-    teachers, head teachers, advisers
-    local authorities, SACREs, Inter Faith groups and  local faith and belief communities
-    parents, employers and the media

‘Celebrating Religious Education’

      Suggested events:

-    ‘Open House’ visits to places of worship
-    exhibitions in schools and nurseries, libraries, museums, civic centres and shopping malls
-    festivals and special days in primary schools
-    conferences for upper primary pupils, for Year 10/11 students, 6th formers and FE students on diversity and identity eg. ‘Who do you think you are?’
-    philosophical and ethical debates eg. ‘Faith in the Future: aspirations and hope, or despair?’ or ‘Whose life is it anyway?’
      religious decision-making in business and politics
religion in the media
-    exploring religion in a creative context:
images of life through the eyes of the artist, poet, sculptor, potter, dancer and musician
-    creating spiritual gardening: places for reflection and meditation
-    college and university-based open days and conferences
